Orbit, GDPR & Goodbye

We have been working hard to find a solution to the new GDPR rules and regulations that came into effect today 25th May 2018.

Unfortunately we have not been able to come up with a satisfactory way to comply with the rules and maintain the security of our site. We simply don't have the resources to implement all the changes required and will not implement a half baked solution that would could potentially open up security and privacy issues on the site (yes we see the irony).

From today users will no longer be able to register on the site, new EYFS providers can not be created and all emails from the site will be disabled. If you already have accounts you will be able to continue using Orbit as you do now until 31st August 2018.

Be assured, we have never shared or sold any data with anyone. We have not and will never sell the data we have held.

On the 1st September 2018 all data, will be destroyed. Any contact information or educational data relating to schools, children, parents etc will be unrecoverable with every image and piece of information we have gone. There will be no recovery from this date. YOU NEED TO GET YOUR DATA BEFORE THEN!

EYFS providers: You can continue to use the system till it is turned off. Please generate your learning journeys and download them to somewhere safe.

Parents: Please contact your child's place of care to be given the learning journey - we can not provide this to you directly.

The Vultures: No you can not buy Orbit, No you can not access our data, No we don't want a partnership, No to anything else you wish to do that tries to monitise our userbase

We wish to thank you for your use of Orbit. Those that have been with us since the beginning especially. It's been a turbulant few years to say the least and we just feel gutted to now have to say farewell

We will not be recomending any other providers (so please don't ask) as we have not validated any of them in terms of compliance etc.

We wish you all the best for the future.

Goodbye

The Orbit Team
